Rhapsody Icons

The following icons appear throughout Rhapsody.

Type of Track

Purchased: Indicates a track that has been purchased from Rhapsody.

Streamed: A track that is streamed from Rhapsody's servers.

Downloaded: A Rhapsody track that has been downloaded to your computer, but not purchased. These are "membership" tracks--if you end your Rhapsody membership, these tracks go away.
 

Note: Downloaded Rhapsody tracks are only available to users on Windows XP systems. Operating systems prior to XP cannot support downloaded Rhapsody tracks  at this time.

 

Imported (no icon): A local track that has been imported from your hard drive or from a CD, not purchased from Rhapsody.

What does it do?

Rhapsody Music Guide: Click to open the Rhapsody Music Guide, where you can play and download thousands of songs and albums.

My Library: Drag and drop tracks to this icon to add to My Library. Click to displays the contents of My Library in the Display area.

My Channels: Drag and drop Rhapsody Channelsand live radio stations from the Channel Guide to this icon to add them to My Channels. Click to view My Channels, your personal collection Rhapsody Channels and live stations.

CD: This is a transient icon. It appears whenever you insert a prerecorded CD in your CD drive while Rhapsody is running. Click to view the CD's contents in the Display area.

Portable Device: This is a transient icon. It appears whenever you connect a portable device to your computer while Rhapsody is running. Click to view the contents of the portable device in the Display area.

Burn a CD: Drag and drop music to this icon to create a burn queue. Click to view and edit your burn queue, and to burn your CD.

Purchase Bin: Appears when you have your Rhapsody MP3 Player connected to your computer. Click to purchase tracks you have saved to the Purchase Bin.

Source in Use: Indicates the source that is currently playing music. For example, if you are playing a track from a CD, this image will appear next to the CD name in the Sources area.

Type of Playlist

Local Playlist: Indicates a playlist that has been created from one or more local, non-Rhapsody tracks (such as tracks imported from a CD or your hard drives). Only Rhapsody tracks in a local playlist can be shared. If there are no Rhapsody tracks in the playlist, it cannot be shared.

Rhapsody Playlist: Indicates a playlist that has been created by you by you from one or more Rhapsody tracks, or added from Playlist Central.

Note: Empty playlists will also display this icon.

Autoplaylist: A special playlist created by you from the contents of My Library.

Dynamic Playlist: A playlist that will be constantly updated with fresh tracks by Rhapsody.

What does it do?

Play: The Play button always causes some kind of playback to begin. But it plays different things depending on what area of Rhapsody you are currently in.

  • In the Music Guide, click to add the album or track it is associated with to the Mixer.

    If you have Clicking the Play button in the Music Guide: Adds track to Mixer and begins playback immediately selected in the General preferences, playback will begin. If you do not. the track will just be added to the Mixer queue.

    Note:
    Press and hold [CONTROL] on your keyboard, then click next to any track or album in the Music Guide to add it to the end of the track list in the Mixer without starting immediate playback.

  • On the Channel Guide pages, click to start playback of a Rhapsody Channel or a live radio station.
  • In My Library, click at the top of the page to play your entire Library.
     
  • In the CD view of the Display area, click to play a prerecorded CD.
     
  • In the Burn a CD view of the display area, click to play your burn queue.

Add: The Add button adds either music to your Library, or Channels to My Channels.

  • In the Music Guide, click next to a track or album to add it to My Library.
     
  • In the Channel Guide, click next to a Rhapsody Channel or a live radio station to add it to My Channels.
     
  • In Playlist Central, click next to a playlist to add it to your collection in the Playlists area.

Play Video: Click to play a music video. Music videos appear on some artist pages in the Music Guide.

Add Dynamic Playlist: Click to add a Dynamic playlist to your collection in the Playlists area. Found on the Dynamic Playlist Page (link found on Playlist Central) or next to My Dynamic Playlist in My Rhapsody.

Share: Click to share the music with your friends.

In the Music Guide, click next to any track or album to share it.

Share Playlist: Click to share a playlist in Playlist Central, or the Dynamic Playlists page.

Rating Selector: Indicates that the associated track, album, artist, or playlist can be rated. Appears throughout the Music Guide pages.

Playlist Central Rating Selector: Found on individual playlist pages in Playlist Central. Click a number to rate the playlist.

Note:
Rating a playlist does not affect your ratings in the rest of Rhapsody.

Play 30-second excerpt: Appears next to tracks and albums in the Music Guide in place of the Play button if you are not signed in to your Rhapsody account, or if that track or album is only available for purchase, and cannot be streamed.

Buy: Click to purchase and download a track or album from the Music Guide.

Browse Back: Click to navigate to the previous Music Guide page.

Browse Forward: Click to navigate to the next Music Guide page.

What's New: Indicates the What's New page in the Music Guide.

Music Guide: Indicates the Music Guide pages.

Channel Guide: Indicates the Channel Guide pages in the Music Guide.

Playlist Central: Indicates the Playlist Central pages in the Music Guide.

My Rhapsody: Indicates the My Rhapsody page in the Music Guide.

Previous Content: Click to scroll back when viewing content such as a list of playlists on Playlist Central.

Next Content: Click to scroll forward when viewing content such as a list of playlists on Playlist Central.

See More: Click to see more of a list of items, such as artists, playlists, or albums.

Error: Appears at the bottom of the Display area when there has been an error during playback, downloading, transfer, or CD burning. Click the icon to see specific information on the error or errors.
