My Library
Select My Library (
) in the Sources area to view
the contents of My Library in the Display area.
Use My Library to display, organize,
search for, and play tracks that you have purchased
from Rhapsody, imported from a CD, added from your hard drive(s),
or added from the Music Guide.
You can also save and organize your photos and videos in My Library.

The Library can hold a collection of tracks
from many sources. It can also hold your photos and videos. To select a view of My Library, click the Tracks tab, the Photos tab, or the Videos tab.

Downloaded Subscription

If you select Download
tracks to my hard drive whenever possible in My
Library Preferences, Rhapsody tracks
will be downloaded to your hard drive when
you add them to My Library. Downloaded Rhapsody tracks
can be played offline.
If you select Add tracks as streams only
in My Library preferences, Rhapsody
tracks will be added to My Library as streams (large audio or video files that are broken into smaller pieces and transferred from a server piece by piece, so they can be viewed immediately rather than waiting for the whole file to be downloaded);
you must be connected to the internet to play them.
You must have the appropriate Rhapsody membership to add and download
Rhapsody tracks to My Library. Downloaded Rhapsody tracks are only available
to users on Windows XP systems. Operating systems prior to XP cannot support
subscription downloads at this time.

Purchased Tracks and Albums

|
These are tracks and
albums that you have purchased from Rhapsody and downloaded
onto your computer.
You do not need a paid membership to purchase music. Music purchased from
Rhapsody is automatically added to My Library.
|
|
Non-Rhapsody Downloads
|
These are tracks that
you have downloaded from some source other
than Rhapsody, such as the internet.
When you select File > Add Tracks to
My Library from the Rhapsody menus, tracks on your hard drive(s) will be added
to My Library.
You do not need a paid membership to add tracks from your hard drives.

Tracks Imported from a
CD
|
These are tracks you
have imported from a prerecorded CD.
They are
automatically added to My Library.
You do not need a paid
membership to import tracks from a CD.

Photos
|
Rhapsody can automatically add photos to My Library from a folder or folders you select in the Watched Folders preferences.

Videos
|
Rhapsody can automatically add videos to My Library from a folder or folders you select in the Watched Folders preferences.

Rhapsody lists your tracks
in the Display area.
Each track has its own row of track information
(such as Track Name, Time and Artist Name) listed in columns. The tracks
can be sorted by the property of any column. Click any column header to
sort the tracks by that property.

Library Columns
The default columns in the Tracks tab of My Library are as
follows:

How do I add and remove columns?
You can add or remove
columns from the Tracks view of My Library. Right-click
(menu of alternate commands; available when you click the right mouse button while using an application)
any column header, and select columns to add them, or deselect column
names to remove them. You can also click and drag columns to rearrange
their order.
The Download column:
The Download column appears in My Library when you have purchased tracks
from Rhapsody. It shows the progress of your downloads,
and leaves a check mark by tracks that have been downloaded in the .
All columns available:
Default columns are in bold.
Any column can be hidden, except for Track.
Any column, default or added, can be sorted.

The Transfer column will only be visible when you have a
portable device connected to your computer.
Track Statistics
The number of tracks in My Library, along
with the total track playing time and the disk space used, is listed at
the bottom of the Display area in the Library
view.
Your total playing time is listed in hours; once you have
more than 24 hours of track time the listing changes to days.
Note: the Library Organizer only appears in the Tracks view of My Library. It is not available in the Photos and Videos views.
Select
My Library (
) in the Sources area to view
the contents of My Library in the Display
area. The tracks that you have added to My
Library are listed here.
If the Organizer is not currently open,
click the bar between the Sources area and My Library to open it.
Use the drop-down list
in the Organizer to sort the
contents of My Library by Artists, Albums, or Genres. To see a list of
the related tracks in the Display area, select
a sort category (such as an artist's name).
Here's how the sorting feature in the Organizer works:

An alphabetical list of all the artists
whose music you have added to My Library.
- Select
the name of an artist to view all of that artist's tracks in My Library.
- Click
the plus sign (
) next to the name of an artist to view all
of the albums with tracks from the artist in
My Library.
- Select
individual album names to display the artist's tracks on specific albums.
- To share
an artist in the Organizer, right-click the artist name, and select Share from the right-click menu. All
available tracks by that artist will be shared.
- To delete
an artist from the Organizer, select the artist name and press [DELETE]
on your keyboard. All tracks and albums by that artist will be deleted.

Albums
|
An alphabetical list of all the albums
from which you have added tracks to My Library.
- Click
the name of any specific album to display the tracks you have added to
My Library from that album.
- To share
an album in the Organizer, right-click the album name, and select Share from the right-click menu. If
the album is available, it will be shared.
- To delete
an album from the Organizer, select the album name and press [DELETE]
on your keyboard. All tracks in that album, and the album itself, will
be deleted.

Genres
|
An alphabetical list of the genres from
which you have added tracks to My Library (such
as Country, New Wave, or Rock).
- Select
a specific genre to view the tracks in My Library associated with that
genre.
- Click
the plus sign (
) next to the name of a genre to display the
names of the artists within that genre whose music you have added to My
Library. (See Artists, in this
table.)
- Click
the plus sign (
)
next to the name of an artist to display all of the artist's albums within
that genre in My Library.
- Select
a specific album to show all the album's tracks within the genre that
you have added to My Library.
- To share
a genre in the Organizer, right-click the genre name, and select Share from the right-click menu. All
available tracks in that genre will be shared.
- To delete
a genre from the Organizer, select the genre name and press [DELETE]
on your keyboard. All tracks, albums and artists in that genre will be
deleted.

To close the Organizer, click the bar between the Organizer and My Library.
You can edit the Track Info in My Library
in two ways:
- Right-click a track or tracks, then select Edit Track Info from the right-click
menu.
- You can also edit directly from the Library view
of the Display area:
- Select a track property, such as the track name,
album name, or genre.
- Click that track property a second time.
- Type in the new information.
- Press [ENTER]
on your keyboard.
The information you entered will be reflected in Track
Info.
The following track properties are available
for in-line editing:
- Track (name)
- Artist (name)
- Album (name)
- Genre
- Sub-Genre
- Track Number
- Disc Number
- Release Year
- Beats Per Minute
- Mood
- Composer (Classical)
- Conductor (Classical)
- Ensemble (Classical)
- Performer (Classical)
- Comments

A list of all the Rhapsody tracks
(tracks that have been streamed, downloaded, or purchased from Rhapsody)
that you have added to My Library from the Music Guide is kept on Rhapsody servers
(any machine or program that is ‘serving’ information to another machine or program; RealServers, for instance, serve content to Rhapsody).
Whenever you sign in to Rhapsody from any computer,
Rhapsody servers compare the contents of My Library with the server-side
library list, and update the contents of My Library. Any changes you make
to My Library from one computer will show up on any other computer you
sign in to. You can have up to three authorized
(computer you have enabled to work with Rhapsody's digital rights management system, in order to play secure Rhapsody music)
computers at any one time, and you can authorize
and deauthorize computers whenever you like.
You must have the appropriate membership
to add streamed or downloaded Rhapsody tracks from
the Music Guide to My Library.

To re-download Rhapsody tracks, select them in My Library, right-click

You can choose to automatically download Rhapsody tracks in My
Library Preferences.
Downloaded Rhapsody tracks are only available to users
on Windows XP systems and later.

Purchased Rhapsody Tracks 
|
With the appropriate membership,
your purchased tracks will appear in My Library
as streamed tracks ( ) when you sign in from another computer.
You can use the Restore function
in Help > Manage
My Account in the Rhapsody menus to re-download
music you have purchased to any of your authorized
computers.
You can also re-download purchased tracks if the original download process
was interrupted or incomplete.
Note:
You can download your purchased tracks up to three (3) times,
on your authorized computers, without
additional charge. You cannot re-download purchased MP3 tracks, but you can copy and transfer the files as needed.

Playlists
|
Playlists made
entirely from Rhapsody tracks will be synchronized
with My Library when you sign in from another computer. Any downloaded
Rhapsody tracks or purchased tracks in the playlist will appear as streams
on the new computer.
|
Local
(computer resources such as drives or files that are part of a computer, or available on a Local Area Network; music files located on your computer's hard drive(s) are referred to as "local"),
non-Rhapsody tracks (imported CD tracks
and tracks downloaded from a source other than
Rhapsody) will not appear in My Library when
you sign in from another computer. They exist
only on the computer on which they were saved, and are not available to
the Rhapsody servers.
Playlists added from Playlist
Central, shared e-mails, or blogs
(web logs; online diaries or logs kept on a web sites)
allow you to sample a wide range of music before you add it to My Library.
Playlists are added to the Playlists area (below the Sources
area) without downloading tracks to your
hard drive, even if you have Download
tracks to my hard drive... selected in the My
Library Preferences.
To add the tracks from a playlist to My
Library, drag the playlist from the Playlist area to My
Library (
) in the Sources
area. You can also drag single tracks or groups of tracks from the
playlist view of the Display area to My
Library. Once added to My Library, tracks will download automatically
if you have Download tracks to my hard
drive... selected in your Preferences.
Playlists created from the tracks in My
Library become part of your playlist collection in the Playlists area.
Tracks deleted from these playlists will not be deleted from My Library.
You can transfer the
local
(computer resources such as drives or files that are part of a computer, or available on a Local Area Network; music files located on your computer's hard drive(s) are referred to as "local")
contents of My Library (tracks that have been purchased,
imported from CD, or added
from your hard drives) to a compatible portable
device. You can choose to add the contents of My Library to the existing
contents of the device, or to wipe the device clean of music files and
replace its contents with My Library. See Transfer
Tracks... for details.
You can also transfer photos and videos you have stored in My Library to your portable device, if it supports photo and video transfer.
You can drag and drop the tracks in My Library
to:

You
can also drag and drop tracks to
My Library from the Music Guide, a playlist,
or a burn queue. You can drag and drop photos and videos from My Library to your portable device, if it supports photo and video transfer.

If you have an iTunes library, Rhapsody can import any MP3s, as well as
scan for tracks that are also found in the Rhapsody
Music Guide, and add streamed
(process of breaking a large audio or video file into smaller pieces and transferring it, piece by piece, so it can be viewed immediately rather than waiting for the whole file to be downloaded)
versions of those tracks to My Library.
To import your iTunes library, select File > Add Media to My Library from the Rhapsody menus.
