How does it work?

Portable Music Devices

Use Rhapsody to transfer purchased Rhapsody tracks ( ) downloaded Rhapsody tracks ( ), and your own local music files to a portable player or device.

 

If you have a Rhapsody MP3 Player, you can even transfer Rhapsody Channels.
 

Note: You must have the appropriate Rhapsody membership and a compatible portable device to download and transfer Rhapsody tracks without purchase. You can only download Rhapsody tracks onto a computer running the Windows XP operating system.

 Not all downloaded Rhapsody tracks can be transferred to a portable player or device. Some artists and labels have not granted subscription transfer rights to their tracks. If you attempt to transfer a downloaded Rhapsody that does not have transfer rights, the "Purchase" dialog will open.

Custom CDs

Create audio CDs using any combination of local music files you have on your computer, including purchased Rhapsody tracks, tracks imported from CDs, and music files added from your hard drive.

Select individual tracks, albums, or create playlists from My Library, then burn them to a blank CD and take them anywhere.

Your Portable Library

Sign in to your Rhapsody account from any authorized computer to access all the Rhapsody tracks in My Library.

 

Note:When you access My Library from a computer other than your own, your downloaded ( ) and purchased ( ) Rhapsody tracks will appear as streamed Rhapsody tracks ( ). You can choose to re-download Rhapsody tracks to the new computer if you wish.

To download streamed Rhapsody tracks without purchasing, right-click the track or tracks and select Download Track(s) from the right-click menu.

You can re-download purchased Rhapsody tracks from the Rhapsody My Account menu (see below).

Restore Purchased Tracks

Download copies of the music you have purchased from Rhapsody onto any authorized computer. Access this feature from My Account > Manage My Account: Re-Download Tracks  in the Rhapsody menus.

Share Tracks and Playlists

Share your favorite Rhapsody tracks and playlists with your friends. Publish playlists on Playlist Central, an online Rhapsody community.

Tell me more about My Library on the Rhapsody servers.

A list of all the downloaded Rhapsody tracks ( ) and purchased Rhapsody tracks ( ) that you have added to My Library from the Music Guide is kept on Rhapsody servers. Whenever you sign in to Rhapsody from any computer, Rhapsody servers compare the contents of My Library with the server-side library list, and update the contents of My Library. Any changes to Rhapsody tracks (adding or deleting)  you make to My Library from one computer will show up on any other computer you sign in to. You can have up to three authorized computers at any one time, and you can authorize and deauthorize computers whenever you like.

Note: You must have the appropriate membership to add downloaded Rhapsody tracks from the Music Guide to My Library.

Rhapsody Streams

All Rhapsody streamed tracks( ) are updated and synchronized with My Library by the Rhapsody servers when you sign in from another authorized computer.

Downloaded Rhapsody Tracks

Downloaded Rhapsody tracks ( ) will appear in My Library as streams( ) when you sign in to your account from another computer.

To re-download Rhapsody tracks, select them in My Library, right-click them, and select Re-Download Track(s) from the menu.

You can choose to automatically download Rhapsody tracks in My Library Preferences.
 

Note: Downloaded Rhapsody tracks are only available to users on Windows XP systems. Operating systems prior to XP cannot support subscription downloads at this time.

Purchased Rhapsody Tracks

With the appropriate membership, your purchased tracks ( ) will appear in My Library as streamed Rhapsody tracks  ( ) when you sign in from another computer.

You can use the Re-Download Tracks function in My Account >Manage My Account in the Rhapsody menus to re-download music you have purchased to any of your authorized computers.

You can also re-download purchased tracks if the original download process was interrupted or incomplete.
 

Note: You can download your purchased tracks up to three (3) times, on your authorized computers,  without additional charge.

Purchased Rhapsody MP3 Tracks

With the appropriate membership, your purchased MP3 tracks will appear in My Library as streamed Rhapsody tracks  ( ) when you sign in from another computer.

You cannot re-download purchased MP3 tracks, but you can back up and move the files as needed.

If the original download process was interrupted or incomplete, please contact Rhapsody Customer Service for assistance.

Playlists

Playlists made entirely from Rhapsody tracks will be synchronized with My Library when you sign in from another computer. Any downloaded subscription tracks or purchased tracks in the playlist will appear as streams ( ) on the new computer.

Local, non-Rhapsody tracks (imported CD tracks and tracks downloaded from a source other than Rhapsody) will not appear in My Library when you sign in from another computer. They exist only on the computer on which they were saved, and are not available to the Rhapsody servers.

Tell me more about portable music players and devices.

If you have a portable player or device, you can take the local contents of My Library with you anywhere. You can manually transfer purchased tracks ( ), purchased Rhapsody MP3s, local non-Rhapsody downloads, and imported CD tracks to your portable device.  With the appropriate membership and a compatible portable device, you can transfer downloaded Rhapsody tracks ( ).

With a Rhapsody MP3 Player, you can get the most that Rhapsody has to offer.

 

Note:  Not all downloaded Rhapsody tracks can be transferred to a portable player or device. Some artists and labels have not granted subscription transfer rights to their tracks. If you attempt to transfer a downloaded Rhapsody track that does not have transfer rights, the "Purchase" dialog will open.

If you do not have a PlaysForSure or Rhapsody DNA portable device, downloaded Rhapsody tracks cannot be transferred.
