Click the header to learn more about the Rhapsody
player controls.
Music information and trivia (such as the
name of the album of origin, artist biographical data, current media releases,
and links to related sites) are displayed to the right of the player controls
while a track is playing. If you have rated a track, your rating displays
here, or you have the opportunity to rate it. This information will appear
for tracks and albums played from the Music Guide, Rhapsody
Channels, and Playlist Central,
as well as tracks from My Library and your own
playlists when available.
- Click the album art
to go to that album page in the Music Guide.
- Click the album name
to go to that album page in
the Music Guide.
- Click the artist
name to go to that artist page in the Music Guide.
- Click a star or the
ban icon
in the rating selector
to rate the track.
- You can drag the album art, album name, or artist name to the following areas of Rhapsody:
- My Library in the Sources area to add that album to your collection.
- Burn a CD in the Sources area to add the album to your burn queue.
- The Mixer to add the album to your Mixer queue.
- A playlist in the Playlists area to add the album to that playlist.
If you are using your Rhapsody-Free
membership, your remaining free streams count will be displayed at the
right of the album info, where additional information would normally be
displayed.
Music info in the player controls is not the same thing
as Track Info.
The status of the track you are currently playing is shown in the Player
Control area, just below the Music Info.
- At the right of the
status display is the timer.
This indicates time played/total
track length. For example, 6 seconds of this three-minute and 18-second
track have been played.
- In the center is
the progress slider.
The
button on the progress slider displays the progress of the track that
is playing, and the percentage remaining to play. When playing streamed
tracks, the dark bar displays the percentage of the track that has been
streamed to your computer. You can move the tracking button by clicking
and dragging it along the bar in either direction. When you release the
button, Rhapsody will begin playing the track from that point. You can
do this with Rhapsody tracks
(tracks that have been streamed, downloaded, or purchased from Rhapsody)
or local
(computer resources such as drives or files that are part of a computer, or available on a Local Area Network; music files located on your computer's hard drive(s) are referred to as "local")
tracks, but not Rhapsody Channel tracks.
- If you are playing
a track from an album, My Library, a playlist, or the Mixer, the next
track queued up to be play is listed beneath the progress slider.
To
open the equalizer
(Rhapsody feature that allows you to fine-tune your audio playback by increasing or decreasing the volume within specific frequency ranges):
Click
in the Rhapsody
Controls or select Tools
> Equalizer in the Rhapsody menus.
Click (or select) again to hide the equalizer
with the current settings in place.
The equalizer panel allows you to better
customize your listening experience by breaking up the standard bass and
treble controls into smaller frequency
of audio output. You can select a preset optimized for your favorite kind
of music, or adjust the bands individually. Each vertical slider controls
the signal gain
(amount of signal amplification)
for a specific frequency range.
The Rhapsody Mini Player is a small
version of the Rhapsody controls that you can use on your desktop, even
when Rhapsody is minimized. You can choose to use the Mini Player from
the General preferences.
